Another winter-painting - some berries in the snow. I am very happy about the blurry background which made a lot of fun to paint it.

Fresh from the easel - some very delicious Khaki. I will try to make a better photo tomorrow because the paint is still very wet and reflects a lot.

Frisch von der Leinwand - einige sehr leckere Khakis. Die Farbe ist noch ganz feucht, so dass es leider viele Reflektionen gibt, ich werde versuchen morgen ein besseres Photo einzustellen.

Lemons and Flower

Unfortunately I missed the last two challenges but at challenge 10 I am in time. And this is my painting for "Paint and Draw Together" by Lela Stankovic. At first I thought "Oh, that's a difficult photo for painting." But I had a lot of fun while painting and I am satisfied with the result even painting still life with dishes or related objects is usually not my favourite. So have a look also at the other paintings of the challenge - it's very interesting.

Leider habe ich die beiden vergangenen "Wettbewerbe" "Paint and Draw Together" von Lela Stankovic verpasst. Diesmal bin ich aber in der Zeit und dies ist nun mein Beitrag. Zuerst hat mir das Referenzphoto gar nicht zugesagt, aber wider Erwarten hatte ich dann doch viel Spaß beim malen und es ging recht einfach von der Hand. So bin ich mit dem Ergebnis auch sehr zufrieden und das, obwohl ich Stillleben, in denen Schüsseln und ähnliche Gegenstände vorkommen, eigentlich eher meide.
Schaut Euch doch auch mal die Ergebnisse der anderen Teilnehmer an, es ist wie immer sehr interessant.

Yesterday I received a letter from the lovable Lynne and I am still overwhelmed with joy.

First I didn't try to open it because it looked so nice. But sure I was bursting with curiosity.

And look what was inside - the butterfly girl!

... and Chloe and the little ones, and two muslims for me to try out. (Sure I will do Lynne.) It's like having new housemates - very special ones - they bring positive vibrations to my home; soft and tender and with their own secret.

If you don't know Lynnes Blog by now have a look soon - she really has a rich world to offer.

And this Lynne is just for you and me - to celebrate yesterday ;-).

Glückskastanie - chestnut superstition

This is the first chestnut I found this year on my way to work. Every year the first chestnut I keep in my jacket pocket till the next autumn and I know she will bring me luck.
Last night I read a book of Wilhelm Genazino and found a very nice passage about chestnuts - I posted it here.

Dies ist die erste Kastanie, die ich in diesem Jahr gefunden habe. Es ist ein kleines Spiel, ein kleiner Aberglaube von mir; die erste Kastanie des Jahres verwahre ich in meiner Jackentasche bis zum nächsten Herbst und sie bringt mir Glück.
Gestern Nacht habe ich in einem Buch von Wilhelm Genazino dann noch eine sehr schöne Stelle gefunden, in der es auch um Kastanien geht - schaut mal hier.

Two Tomatoes

You missed me? I weren't on holiday but had a lot of things to structure and no untroubled time for painting. But yesterday in one hour - guess this is my fastest painting - I painted these very delicious tomatoes fresh from the garden; the last ones of this summer I suppose.

Hallo, habt Ihr mich vermisst? Leider hatte ich keinen Urlaub, wie man hätte annehmen können, sondern viele Dinge zu regeln, so dass ich keine ungestörte Zeit zum malen hatte. Gestern jedoch habe ich innerhalb einer Stunde - wohl eines meiner schnellsten Bilder - diese leckeren Tomaten, frisch aus dem Garten, gemalt; es sind wohl die letzten dieses Sommers.

Forgotten Figs

This is my painting for the new challenge of "Paint and Draw Together" by Lela Stankovic. Have a look at the Blog - it's worth it - nice participants, interesting paintings and always a good origin.
I tried hard to get a good photo of my painting because the colour is still wet and the dark parts reflect the light too much but I think this is near to the original. I started with an acrylic and used the following oil colours to continue: titan white, lemon yellow (I like the green tones mixed from this with black), yellow ochre, burnt sienna, alizarin crimson, ultramarin and black.
And I found my painting for the last challenge which still isn't ready. It was a sweet little duck. I don't know how I could forget about it - the little duck were gone underground without telling me - I will finish it and post it soon. 

Dies also ist mein Beitrag für "Paint and Draw Together" von Lela Stankovic. Es lohnt sich einen Blick auf den Blog zu werfen - nette Teilnehmer, interessante Bilder und immer eine gute Vorlage.
Erneut war es schwierig ein gutes Photo des Bildes zu machen, da die Farbe noch immer nass ist und die dunklen Bereiche das Licht reflektieren, aber es ähnelt dem Originalbild nun doch sehr. Begonnen habe ich erneut mit einer Untermalung aus Acryl um dann mit folgenden Ölfarben weiter zu machen: Titanweiß, Zitronengelb (ich mag die Grüntöne, die sich in Kombination mit Schwarz daraus mischen lassen sehr), Ocker, gebr. Sienna, Alizarin Krimson, Ultramarinblau und eben Schwarz.
Und ich habe auch mein Bild für den vorangegangenen Wettbewerb wieder gefunden. Es war eine süße, kleine Ente. Ich weiß nicht, wie ich sie vergessen konnte - sie war sozusagen abgetaucht ohne mir etwas davon zu sagen, aber ich werde das Bild noch beenden und in Kürze einstellen.

Pflaumen

Today some plums - only this picture remained of them. I love the velvet of their waxed protective layer. To catch this colour was the cause of painting them.

Heute mal einige Pflaumen - nur dies Bild ist von ihnen geblieben. Ich liebe die samtig wirkende Wachsschutzschicht. Diese Farbe darzustellen war der eigentliche Anlass für das Bild.

Red Hot Chillies

Some red chillies from the garden of my parents. They are very, very hot.
After more than two weeks I had some time to paint again finally. And this is the result of todays painting session. I only used six colours (white, lemon yellow, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, phtalo blue red shade and black) which is less for me. I started with an acryl underpainting for getting relaxed and then I tried to paint fast and less detailed as I always try to do. This time it works.

Einige rote Chillischoten aus dem Garten meiner Eltern. Sie sind höllisch scharf.
Nach mehr als zwei Wochen hatte ich endlich wieder ein bisschen Zeit zum malen.Und dies ist das Ergebnis von heute. Ich habe "nur" sechs Farben (s.o.) benutzt, was für mich eher wenig ist. Begonnen habe ich mit einer Untermalung aus Acryl, sozusagen zum locker werden. Weiterhin versuche ich jedes mal aufs Neue schneller und nicht so detailliert zu malen. Das hat diesmal ganz gut geklappt.

"mein Weg" in Le Pouget

This is "my path" in Le Pouget. Different times I tried to paint it because this place is very important to me (see also older post). It was high up on the hill, a stony path surrounded by grasses, heather, bigger stones with lichens and lots of bumble bees. I also had a big stone for laying in the sun from where I could see everything around - but nobody could see me.

Dies ist "mein Weg" in Le Pouget. Bereits mehrere Male habe ich versucht ihn zu malen, da er sehr wichtig für mich ist (siehe auch älterer Post). Der Weg verlief hoch oben auf dem Berg; ein steiniger Weg umgeben von verschiedenen Gräsern, Heidekraut, größeren mit Flechten bewachsenen Steinen und vielen Hummeln. Ich hatte mir auch einen großen Stein zum Sonnenbaden ausgesucht von dem aus ich alles überblicken konnte, ohne das man mich hätte sehen können.

Stillleben 2010 auf der A40/B1 - Rückblick

Little retrospect of the last sunday where we had the Stillleben 2010 on "our" freeway A40. It connects lots of cities and were closed over a distance of about 60 km. (For more information and pictures have a look here or here (pictures). 20 000 tables were established - from Duisburg to Dortmund.
My husband and I started late from home and they wont let us on the road first because it was crowded. (I never saw so much cyclist. The picture above shows a non crowded part of the road.) So we sidled trough a field to reach the happening. It was really great, we met some friends and saw a lot of interesting things and people - musicians, crazy people, dancing people, people who celebrated their birthday and so on..... Very important equipment nearly on every table were something cold to drink, sunmilk and cakes. :-)

Ein kleiner Rückblick zum Stillleben 2010 auf der A40, meist eher B1 genannt. Es ist ja "die" Strasse, die alles im Ruhrgebiet verbindet und meistens verstopft ist. Von Duisburg bis Dortmund war die B1 nun gesperrt, 20 000 Tische waren aufgebaut und der Besucherandrang enorm, es sollen mehr als 3 Millionen Leute dort gewesen sein. Weitere Infos und Bilder sind unter den oben angegeben Links zu finden.
Mein Mann und ich sind spät von zu Hause gestarte und zuerst wollte man uns gar nicht mehr auf die B1 lassen, da bereits alles überfüllt war. Wir haben uns dann über einige Schleichwege doch vorgekämpft. Noch nie habe ich so viele Radfahrer auf einen Haufen gesehen. Wir haben Freunde getroffen und jede Menge interessante Dinge und Leute gesehen - so Musiker, verrückte Leute, tanzende Leute, Geburtstagskinder, usw. Es war wirklich toll. Besonders wichtig an diesem Tag und daher auch auf vielen Tischen zu finden: kalte Getränke, Sonnenmilch und Kuchen. :-)

Dies ist meine Version für Lela Stankovic's "Paint and Draw Together" Blog. Ich habe versucht recht schnell zu arbeiten und hatte, wie so oft einige Probleme mit der Farbe Grün. Aber das Ergebnis gefällt mir doch ganz gut. Schaut Euch doch auch die Bilder der anderen Teilnehmer auf Lelas Blog an - es ist interessant die unterschiedlichen Versionen zu sehen.

Henry Miller - varicoloured

This is a little painting I started a few weeks ago and had some hard fight with. I tried to paint it in a realistic manner but it always ended in chaos and Henry looked real terrible. And that's the opposite of what I intended because my painting should be a little blessing to him - as I told in another post I began to read my Henry Miller Books again, started with "The rosy crucification" (Sexus, Plexus, Nexus).
One evening I got really angry about the painting and this was the turning point. I only used three colours (and white) to continue (see also my little experience here) and I think and hope he would like it to be varicoloured like that.

Vor einigen Wochen habe ich mit diesem kleinen Bild begonnen und lange gekämpft. Es sollte ein eher realistisches Portrait werden sah aber mehr und mehr schrecklich aus. Dabei wollte ich doch das Gegenteil erreichen, ein hübsches Bild als kleine Lobpreisung an Henry Miller, von dessen Werk ich erneut begeistert bin - wie ich in einem anderen Post bereits erwähnte habe ich begonnen alle meine Bücher von ihm erneut zu lesen, angefangen mit "The rosy crucification" (Sexus, Plexus, Nexus).
An einem Abend, an dem mich das Bild wirklich wütend gemacht hat, kam der Wendepunkt. Erneut habe ich mit nur drei Farben (und Weiß) weiter gearbeitet (siehe auch mein kleines Experiment hier) und ich denke und hoffe Henry wäre mit dem Ergebnis so bunt zu sein auch ganz zufrieden.

Wildes Stiefmütterchen

That's one of the good things if you have a real meadow, not only green gras. Beside lots of daisies and dandelions I found some cute, little, wild pansies. I couldn't get enough of just looking at them.

Dies ist einer der Vorteile, wenn man eine richtige Wiese im Garten hat, nicht einfach nur grünen Rasen. Neben vielen Gänseblümchen und Löwenzahnpflanzen habe ich einige süße, kleine, wilde Stiefmütterchen gefunden. Ich könnte stundenlang dort sitzen und sie einfach nur anschauen.

Es ist vollbracht. Mein neuer Blog rund um die Literatur, der sich nach und nach mit Gedichten (eigenen und fremden), Textauszügen, diversen Übersichten, Buchvorstellungen, Autoreninformationen und allerlei anderem füllen wird, ist online.

Kommt mich doch mal besuchen hier geht's rein.

Ich bin erst mal geschafft für heute und brauche dringend einen Kaffee und ganz viel Schokolade. :-)

Kulturhauptstadt 2010 - das Ruhrgebiet

I like to make a little promotion for "Ruhr2010" (for further information have a look here). Last weekend I visited the Zeche Zollverein in Essen which was very interesting. I know a lot of interesting places around my hometown Dortmund but the Zeche Zollverein which belongs to the world heritage really impressed me.
As part of "Ruhr2010" there are a lot of events this year in every edge of the Ruhrgebiet. If you have time to visit - do it, do it, do it !!! Interesting places and events, cold beer and last but not least the origin inhabitants of the Ruhrgebiet, which are mostly straight and honest, like me, haha. ;-)
Have a look also to some snapshots I took with my mobile. You can see some of the yellow balloons and my favourite is the one with the little birch which is growing on a railroad between the rails high up on about 10 m.

Und auch für alle in Deutschland: Kommt und schaut Euch die Kulturhauptstadt Ruhr2010 an, es lohnt sich. Wie jemand es benannte, die Menschen im Ruhrgebiet waren immer stolz darauf ein Industriestandort zu sein, nun können sie stolz darauf sein auch ein Kulturstandort zu sein. Jawoll! ;-) Ich wohne schon immer im Ruhrgebiet aber erst in den letzten Jahren entdecke ich mehr und mehr die schönen Seiten.
Und der Besuch der Zeche Zollverein am vergangenen Wochenende hat mich erneut sehr beeindruckt.
Ich habe einige Schnappschüsse mit meinem Handy gemacht, die schon mal einen kleinen Eindruck wiedergeben. Mein Lieblingsbild ist jedoch das mit der kleinen Birke, die unverdrossen zwischen den Gleisen, auf einer ca. 10 m hohen Bahntrasse, wächst.

A little Magellan penguin which I saw in the zoo of Wuppertal.
I love penguins and as I was a child I always told that I came from the penguins. Nobody knows why.

Diesen kleinen Magellan-Pinguin habe ich im Wuppertaler Zoo gesehen. Ich liebe Pinguine und als Kind habe ich immer erzählt, dass ich von den Pinguinen stamme. Wie ich darauf gekommen bin weiß niemand.

Stein

A small painting from my collection oft nature things. I have a lot of different stones and this one I like because of the white crushed line, it remembers me of a life line.

Ein weiteres kleines Bild diesmal mit einem Stein aus meiner Sammlung. Mittlerweile haben sich sehr viele Steine angesammelt und diesen mag ich besonders weil mich die gebrochene weiße Linie an eine Art Lebenslinie erinnert.

Le Pouget

This is a painting I made from a photo which was taken in France (Cevennen, Le Pouget) were I spend some time for workshops and holidays in 2005. Every morning I stand up early and made Tai Chi high up on the hill. I had a great view and could see the sun rising and light up the mountains.
Le Pouget is a little restored hamlet from 1800. It's located within a national park high up on 750 m. Now it is used for different kind of workshops, small conferences, and group or company retreats.
Below I show the reference photo. I started painting without thinking too much which was helpful because I mostly have problems with all shades of green. (So I prefer painting landscapes in winter. ;-)) I deleted myself for a better result also. The original painting looks even better than the picture I took because the green values are balanced out much better. Nevertheless I feel very happy about it and will try some further landscape paintings.

Dieses Bild entstand nach einem Foto, das im Jahre 2005 in Frankreich (Cevennen, Le Pouget) aufgenommen wurde. Dort habe ich diverse Workshops besucht, Urlaub gemacht und bin jeden Morgen früh aufgestanden um Tai Chi zu machen. Dabei hatte ich einen wundervollen Ausblick auf die umgebenden Berge, die von der aufgehenden Sonne nach und nach beleuchtet wurden.
Le Pouget ist ein kleiner, restaurierter Weiler und wurde Anfang 1800 erbaut. Er liegt inmitten eines Nationalparks, hoch oben auf 750 m. Heutzutage wird der Ort, hauptsächlich für verschiedene Arten von Workshops, kleinere Konferenzen und Gruppen- oder Firmenretreats genutzt.
Weiter unten ist das Referenzphoto zu sehen. Ich habe ohne viel Nachdenken angefangen zu malen, was wohl sehr hilfreich war, denn normalerweise habe ich stets Probleme mit der Farbe Grün. (So male ich eigentlich nur Winterlandschaften. ;-)) Zudem habe ich mich für ein besseres Ergebnis aus dem Bild herausgenommen. Das Originalbild sieht erheblich besser aus als das vom Bild erstellte Photo, da die Grünwerte auf dem Original besser ausbalanciert sind. Dennoch bin ich recht zufrieden und werde mich in Zukunft öfter auch mal mit Landschaften beschäftigen.

letzter Tag im Bad

These are some fragrantly bath-balls I never used. In process of time they loose their round form and I don't like the smell of most of them. I kept them just because of the colour. Or maybe they would smell good using all together (I have some more).
Some time ago I visited a blog, I forgot which one, where the woman painted a lot of marbles, beautiful ones in a realistic manner with lots of reflections. I wish I could have painted my bath-balls more like that.

Hier nun einige duftende Badekugeln, die ich nie benutzt habe. Im laufe der Zeit haben sie etwas ihre Form verloren und ich mag den Geruch der meisten überhaupt nicht. Nur aufgrund der Farben habe ich sie eigentlich behalten. Vielleicht riechen sie gut, wenn man alle gleichzeitig benutzt (habe noch einige mehr).
Vor einiger Zeit habe ich einen Blog besucht, den ich mir leider nicht gemerkt habe, wo eine Frau Murmeln gemalt hat, wundervolle Murmeln, realistisch dargestellt mit vielen Reflektionen. Schön wäre es, wenn ich meine Badekugeln auch so gut hätte darstellen können.

I collect things from nature like stones, shells, seeds and other interesting objects. These ones are limpets found in the Bretagne now lying in my bathroom. From time to time I like to have a look at all my treasures and spread them around me on the ground being happy like a little child.

Ich sammle Dinge aus der Natur wie z.B. Steine, Muscheln, Samen und andere interessante Objekte, die ich so finde und die mich aufgrund ihrer Form oder Farbe faszinieren. Hier handelt es sich um Napfschnecken, gefunden in der Bretagne, die sich zur Zeit im Bad tummeln. Von Zeit zu Zeit mag ich es sehr, alle meine Schätze um mich herum auf dem Boden auszubreiten und freue mich dann wie ein Kind.

Without any good idea what to paint I started with this peace of soap - only because it smells very well after grapefruit and lemon. Meanwhile I found some other little things in my bathroom which wanted to be my model...

Mal wieder ohne eine gute Idee was ich malen könnte, kam mir dieses Stück Seife in den Sinn, aber nur weil es so gut riecht, nach Grapefruit und Limone.
Mittlerweile habe ich in meinem Bad einige weitere kleine Sachen gefunden, die sich als Modell angeboten haben...

I love the atmosphere of this scene. This painting I made after a filmstill from the film "Factotum" which deals about the life of Charles Bukowski.

Die Atmosphäre dieser Szene liebe ich sehr. Dies ist ein Bild nach einem Filmstill aus dem Film "Factotum", den ich ganz gelungen fand und der das Leben von Charles Bukowski veranschaulicht.

Calypso Moon Artist Movement

"Fruity Kiss"

This is my sumission for the Calypso Moon Artist Movement by Alice Thompson. You should paint food which you like and now it's bad for you.  I am addicted to cakes and cookies and this little cake is called "Fruity Kiss" with cinnamon apples, a lot of fresh cream between shortcrust. The problem is that one of it isn't enough at all.

Ich bin süchtig nach Kuchen und Keksen und dieser kleine Kuchen heißt "Fruity Kiss" und besteht aus Zimtäpfeln mit viel frischer Sahne zwischen leckerem Mürbeteig. Einer von diesen kleinen Kuchen ist nie genug, das ist das Problem.
